Daxue IX. 1.
    Kepastiannya boleh dikata ketenangan keluarganya ada pada pengembangan diri
    pada tubuhnya :
suǒ wèi qí qí jiā zài xiū qí shēn zhě :
所謂齊其家在修其身者：
    Orang yang dirinya pasti dekat dengan cintakasih , seperti bagaimana membukakan
    jalan .
rén zhī qí suǒ qìng ài , ér pì yān .
人之其所親愛，而辟焉。
    Yang dirinya pasti rendah diri dengan keburukannya , seperti bagaimana
    membukakan jalan .
zhī qí suǒ jiàn ě , ér pì yān .
之其所賤惡，而辟焉。
    Yang dirinya pasti penakut dengan penghargaan , seperti bagaimana membukakan
    jalan .
zhī qí suǒ wèi jìng  , ér pì yān .
之其所畏敬，而辟焉。
    Yang dirinya pasti selalu sedih dengan belas kasihan , seperti bagaimana
    membukakan jalan .
zhī qí suǒ āi jīn  , ér pì yān .
之其所哀矜，而辟焉。
    Yang dirinya pasti bertele-tele dengan kemalasan , seperti bagaimana membukakan
    jalan .
zhī qí suǒ áo duò , ér pì yān .
之其所敖惰，而辟焉。
    Sejak dahulu bolehlah seperti mengetahui keburukan dirinya , keburukan seolah-olah
    dirinya mengetahui keindahannya , dikolong langit selamanya segar/ selalu seperti ini.
gù hǎo ér zhī qí ě , ě ér zhī qí měi zhě ,
tiān xià xiān yǐ .
故好而知其惡，惡而知其美者，
天下鮮矣。

ENGLISH TRANSLATION
 
    What is meant by “The regulation of one's family depends on the cultivation of his person,” is this:— Men are partial where they feel
    affection and love; partial where they despise and dislike; partial here they stand in awe and reverence; partial where they feel sorrow
    and compassion; partial where they are arrogant and rude. Thus it is that there are few men in the world, who love and at the same
    time know the bad qualities of the object of their love, or who hate and yet know the excellences of the object of their hatred.
