Daxue XI. 1.
    Kepastiannya menceritakan keseimbangan dunia (kolong langit) ada pada pengendalian negara itu
    sendiri :
suǒ wèi píng tiān xia zài zhì qí guó zhě :
所謂平天下在治其國者:
    Yang diatas sudah sangat tua sekali , Seperti berkembangnya masyarakat atas dasar cintakasih ;
shàng lǎo lǎo , ér mín xīng xiào ;
上老老,而民興孝;
    Yang diatas jaraknya tak terhingga , Seperti berkembangnya masyarakat atas dasar rasa
    persaudaraan ;
shàng zhǎng zhǎng , ér mín xīng dì ;
上長長,而民興弟;
    Yang diatas maha tunggal pemberi / penolong / pendukung, Seperti masyarakat tidak cepat
    menjadi berlipat ganda ;
shàng xù gū , ér mín bù bèi .
上恤孤,而民不倍。
    Adalah karena ada nabi yang memurnikan aturan sesuai hukum keseimbangan alam semesta pula .
shì yǐ jūn zǐ yǒu xié jǔ zhī dào yě .
是以君子有絜矩之道也。

ENGLISH TRANSLATION
 
    What is meant by “The making the whole kingdom peaceful and happy depends on the government of his State,” is this:
    — When the sovereign behaves to his aged, as the aged should be behaved to, the people become filial; when the
    sovereign behaves to his elders, as the elders should be behaved to, the people learn brotherly submission; when the
    sovereign treats compassionately the young and helpless, the people do the same. Thus the ruler has a principle with
    which, as with a measuring-square, he may regulate his conduct.
